Hi, my name is Daniel Šiftanc, and I’m from the Krkonoše Mountains, Czech Republic. Growing up surrounded by the mountains left a lasting impression on me, inspiring me to start capturing moments during my hikes and eventually seek out new places to explore.
In 2014, I bought my first DSLR camera with money I earned from my first part-time job. With it, I photographed everything that caught my eye—people, architecture, and landscapes. Around the same time, I developed a love for traveling. After finishing my studies, I moved to Iceland for two years—a perfect place for nature photography. Over time, photographing landscapes and travel experiences became my passion, motivating me to discover as many new places as possible.
In 2019, I was fortunate enough to obtain a Working Holiday Visa for New Zealand. I arrived in 2020, just days before the borders closed. I spent my first nine months on the North Island, and in December 2020, I moved to the South Island, which is less populated and wilder in its natural beauty. After exploring much of the South Island, I settled in the mountain town of Queenstown, where I lived until spring 2022.
At the end of summer 2022, I relocated to British Columbia, Canada, where I’ve been living in the mountains ever since.
